Air: The only international airport in Bhutan is located in Paro, approximately 1 hour drive from Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The Bhutan national airlines, the Drukair, fly to/from cities like Bangkok (Thailand), Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Gaya, Bagdora (India) Dhaka (Bangladesh) and Singapore.

Road: The road from Bagdogra (the nearest Indian airport) enters Bhutan at Phuentsholing, the border town. It is 3 – 4 hour drive from Bagdogra to Phuentsholing. It takes around 7 hours from Darjeeling or Gangtok (Sikkim) to Phuentsholing. From Phuentsholing to Thimphu is 6 hour drive covering 176 km.
All foreign nationals (except Indian, Bangladeshis and Maldivian nationals) require a Bhutanese visa to travel to Bhutan and Kuentshok Bhutan Tours and Travels will process visa for you. All Bhutanese visas are issued only from Thimphu.
No foreign mission/embassy abroad grants Bhutan tourist visa
Please submit the required information (your passport) by email at least 4 weeks prior to date of travel as visa clearance takes at least 10-14 days. Passports should be valid for at least 6 months. The visa will be processed once the full payment of your trip (including USD $40 visa fee) has been wire transferred and received in the Tourism Council of Bhutan bank account. You will need the visa in order to board the flight or to enter the country if travelling by land.
